Sunday School Special Programs
The following Special Events enrich our ministries to children and youth. These events are announced through ads in church publications, flyers, etc. To view details of these events, please view our flyer.

The following Special Ministries and Events offer us opportunities to serve and share, as they enrich the faith journeys of our children, youth, and adults:
SUNDAY SCHOOL & CATECHETICS SPECIAL MINISTRIES & EVENTS:
- School Supplies Collection: Held each year from Mid- August through September. School supplies are collected for various designated organizations that serve people in need.
- Rally Day: We celebrate the first day of Sunday School each year with a grand procession of all Sunday School classes to the 9AM Outdoor Worship Center. Students and teachers receive a blessing as we celebrate a new school year.
- Support for our Troops: Throughout the month of October, Sunday School Students write letters and donate items for our Troops who are serving overseas.
- Blessing of Bibles: Each year on Reformation Sunday, Third Grade Sunday School Students receive Bibles from our Family of faith. The students, their parents, and their Bibles are blessed during worship.
- Thanksgiving Food Collection: Coordinated by the Fifth Grade Sunday School Class. Food items are collected and distributed to Organizations and churches who provide food for families in need.
- Sunday School Christmas Drama: From Advent to Christmas…. the children and youth of our Sunday School share the good news of Jesus birth during 9AM Sunday worship prior to Christmas.
- Christmas Gift Collection: Coordinated by the 4th Grade Sunday School Class - Christmas Wish lists are obtained from organizations such as Hope Gardens and St. John’s, Philadelphia. Lists are posted and gifts collected and distributed to families and children.
- SOUPer Bowl of Hunger:Each year, on Super Bowl Sunday, the 6th& 7th grades Sunday School class coordinates and facilitates the Souper Bowl of Caring collection to help combat hunger throughout the world. In the past, these students have raised $1000.00 and more, reaching out to others in the name of our Loving Lord! All proceeds benefit ELCA World Hunger.
- Valentines for the Chosen 300 Ministry to the Homeless: Sunday School Students make Valentines for our brothers and sisters who are ministered to through the ministry of Chosen 300. A younger Sunday School class coordinates this ministry each year.
- Support to ELCA World Hunger: ELCA World Hunger boxes and letters inviting families to share their gifts of money are distributed to Sunday School students and offered to all. Money is collected during Lent. Filled offering boxes are presented and blessed at the altar on Easter Sunday and money is distributed to those in need though the World Hunger Appeal.
- Youth Sunday: Every Spring our Catechetics and older Sunday School students lead worship for all three worship services on Youth Sunday. These worship services feature our Youth Band and the youth of our congregation.
Group First Holy Communion: Organized and presented by the Fifth Grade Sunday School Class and a Pastor. Group First Holy Communion is offered the last Sunday of Sunday School. This celebration follows an instructional group gathering in the Spring.
- PALS (People Assisting Little Souls): This is a ministry to children & youth with special needs. Adult volunteers accompany our special needs students to classes and activities to help them, as needed with various skills and to serve as advocates.
- FAITHFUL SERVANT FRIENDS: Faithful servant friends is a ministry for Catechetics students and faithful servant adults who serve as mentors to our youth. These relationships are strengthened through large group and individual times together where we explore questions of faith and share our stories.
