I’m Steve Pribis and I play tenor sax for FTS.

I’m the “new kid on the block,”  having joined FTS in 2005, but I’m hardly new to either music or to UDLC. I was confirmed in this church in 1970 and have been a member of the church ever since then. As for music, I’ve done my share – like a lot of kids, I started on the piano. Then I expanded my musical skills to playing the sax, clarinet and bassoon – I still play a bit of each, playing bassoon for Ambler Symphony for the past ten years. I also sing, having been a member of the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia in the 1970’s and 1980’s – it was quite a thrill to sing with the Philadelphia Orchestra at Carnegie Hall with Ricardo Muti conducting. I’ve also sung with the choir at UDLC – both as a child and as an adult.

But my biggest thrill is when Doug said “yes” when I asked if I could play with FTS (it probably didn’t hurt that he is my cousin). Like the song written by FTS, “The Best Gift,” I feel that my current contribution of playing with the group for our congregation is the best gift I could give. And, unlike my classical playing, I get a chance to play what I feel and not only what is on paper. I feel blessed to be a part of this group and am grateful to them for giving me the chance to give back.

In my day-to-day life, I’m a numbers geek, running my own business as a consulting actuary. In both cases, I love what I do. Thank you God for bestowing on me the talents to serve!
