I pray that this greeting finds you healthy and well. Hours after I last wrote to you, Governor Wolf announced sweeping closures in Montgomery County in order to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.
In response to his announcement, our nursery school has closed until March 30, pending further guidance from the state and county.
At this point, all church activities, including Worship Services and Sunday School are canceled or postponed through March 24th. It is likely that we will extend cancelations beyond that date. We will closely monitor developments, respond as needed, and communicate with you in a timely manner.
All our part-time church staff will be working remotely from home during this time. Our full-time employees (Theresa, Mo, and I) will work on-site as needed and remotely as able. The staff remains in close touch using phone, text, email, and our online collaboration tools. We have also established a daily staff conference call, so we can coordinate our efforts and communications. While the church office may be physically closed during this time, our church staff is available to you and ready to support you in any way we can. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
Dear UDLC Members and Friends,
I wrote to you on Tuesday evening with the first steps we were taking to respond to the Coronavirus. This included canceling all meetings, small groups, and group activities until March 24th, when we would reevaluate.
Since that time, we have continued to monitor this quickly developing situation. We have reviewed public health recommendations and we have received insightful guidance from knowledgeable leaders in the fields of emergency preparedness, healthcare, government, and education.
It has become clear to us that the situation with the Coronavirus is going to get worse before it gets better. The last thing we want to do is put anyone at risk, and one of the most effective ways of lowering the impact and spread of the virus is through social distancing. Therefore, the Church Council has decided that we will cancel Sunday worship services for the next two weeks (March 15 and 22), giving us time to better see how this situation develops and reevaluate.
Canceling Sunday Worship is a significant step and not at all taken lightly. We had initially hoped to host services with modifications that would allow us to safely gather as a community. We have realized that those modifications will not be sufficient in light of what we now understand about the Coronavirus.
Dear UDLC Members and Friends,
As you know, the Coronavirus is of growing concern not only nationally, but in our local area. Our primary concern is for the health and well-being of our members and the community we serve. Out of an abundance of caution, we are taking the following precautionary steps to help protect everyone’s health, safety, and well-being. Please be aware that this is a fluid situation, and these steps are subject to change based on new information. We will notify you right away should any changes become necessary.
