UDLC Stories: The Press Family
Our family was part of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill when living in Philly, but after moving to Abington in 2021, we hoped to find a church that was closer to our new home. We were searching for a place that truly lived out Jesus’ message of acceptance and kindness—a community where love wasn’t just spoken but shown through real acts of compassion.
It was also deeply important to us that our children felt welcomed and loved in church, and that we belonged to a community where everyone was truly included. We were looking not just for a church, but for a true spiritual home.
The first time UDLC felt like more than a place—and truly like home—was when our children lit up and asked, “Is it Church Music Tuesday?” as we picked them up from school. We’re so grateful our children have an opportunity to grow in music within the church, nurtured by faith and the caring leadership of Miss Carol and Buffy.
“We were searching for a place that truly lived out Jesus’ message of acceptance and kindness—a community where love wasn’t just spoken but shown through real acts of compassion.”
In this phase of life, we are actively involved in advocacy, music, and children’s ministries. We appreciate UDLC’s consistent partnership with organizations that serve vulnerable populations and those in greatest need.
Our understanding of generosity was shaped at a young age—through volunteering and witnessing people who, despite having little, gave with open hearts and selfless spirits. Their example left a lasting impression. We believe that even our small part contributes to God’s greater purpose.
Our greatest hope is that UDLC inspires other churches, individuals, and communities to stand up and actively support those who are most vulnerable and in need. For the next generation, we hope they will carry forward the values of inclusion and compassion, knowing that they are not only welcome here but essential to the life and future of the church.
