Volunteer and Make a Difference

Volunteering is one of the ways we live out our faith together. Through a wide range of opportunities—within the church and beyond our walls—volunteers help build community, support ministries, and serve neighbors with care and compassion. Whether you have an hour or ongoing availability, there are meaningful ways to get involved and make a difference.

Training and Background Checks

We at UDLC are committed to creating a safe environment for our children and youth to learn all about God’s love in their lives. To do this, we require all volunteers to complete a series of background checks mandated by the state of Pennsylvania every 5 years. We also require Sexual Abuse Awareness training through Ministry Safe every 2 years so that volunteers can look out for signs of abuse. Both the training and the background checks must be completed before you start volunteering. Please find information about the required background checks and training at the links below. Email Vicar Brynn if you have any questions.

  • Website: https://epatch.pa.gov/home

As a volunteer, you are able to receive a free background check every 5 years. Please complete a volunteer check at no cost to you or submit a previously received and valid PA State Criminal Background Check (one completed within the last 5 years).

Please upload this clearance through the link to your Ministry Safe account or email them to Vicar Brynn.

  • Website: https://www.compass.dhs.pa.gov/cwis/public/home

As a volunteer, you are able to receive a free background check every 5 years. Please complete a volunteer check at no cost to you or submit a previously received and valid DHS Child Abuse Clearance (one completed within the last 5 years)

Please upload this clearance through the link to your Ministry Safe account or email them to Vicar Brynn

  • Website: https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dhs/resources/keep-kids-safe/child-abuse-clearances/fbi-fingerprinting

FBI Fingerprinting is required for any volunteer who has lived in the state of Pennsylvania for less than 10 years. Please use the link above to schedule the background check using the service code 1KG6ZJ when scheduling. It will cost approximately $22.95 to complete. If you have completed a volunteer FBI Fingerprinting in the last 5 years, you may also submit that document.

If you have lived in PA for more than 10 years, please read, sign, and have a witness sign this affidavit attesting that you have not been convicted of a crime that would prevent you from working with children.

Please upload the applicable document through the link to your Ministry Safe account or email them to Vicar Brynn

  • To complete the Sexual Abuse Awareness Training, please email Vicar Brynn to request the link. Please make sure that your Breeze profile is set up and has both an email address and your birthdate listed in order to receive the link. You must receive at least 80% on the final quiz to be eligible to volunteer.

The content of the training is disturbing at times but is necessary to know the signs of child sexual abuse.  We advise that volunteers under the age of 18 view this training with a trusted adult.

If you have any concerns about the nature of the content, please email Vicar Brynn

  • If your child is volunteering with children and youth and is under the age of 18, we need parental consent to receive background checks from them. Please complete this form and send it to the church before completing the background checks.
